High Kick 2 Funny Kiss Scenes

This is a week late, but in celebration of the annualKiss Day (June 14th) in Korea, this is a continuation of the topic on K-drama kisses…

One relatively recent trend that we're seeing is the phenomenon of giving nicknames to the kissing scenes in dramas. Whereas in the past viewers used to refer to a drama kiss by the title of the drama (e.g., Hotelier kiss,Goong kiss, Coffee Prince kiss, etc.), it is becoming increasingly common for some of these kisses to have an official name by which everyone refers to them. In fact, a kissing scene earning its own nickname signifies the strong impact it left on the viewers, and there is an increased pressure for dramas to continue to "beat" or come up with new and innovative kisses so that it too can earn its own nickname as well.

PROPS

Some kisses are named from the props used during the kiss.

Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee's "Candy Kiss"

It's not a stretch to say that Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee's "Candy Kiss" in Iris is what first gave birth to this trend. When Kim Tae Hee's character complains that Lee Byung Hun's character did not give her any candy for White Day, Lee Byun Hun surprises her by transferring the candy in his mouth to Kim Tae Hee's mouth. Some viewers found it romantic. Others found it repulsive. But there's no denying that it left a strong impact.

Choi Daniel and Hwang Jung Eum's "Scarf Kiss"

Stranded and cold after their car stalls, Hwang Jung Eum offers to share her scarf with Choi Daniel in High Kick Through the Roof. With the long scarf wrapped around each of their neck, Choi suddenly stares into Hwang's eyes and kisses her in what becomes known as the "Scarf Kiss."

Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won's "Foam Kiss"

After taking a sip from her cappuccino, Ha Ji Won clumsily gets foam above her upper lips. Hyun Bin offers to wipe it for her… with his own lips. And the famous "Foam Kiss" from Secret Garden is born.

Yoon Doo Joon and Lizzy's "Spoon Kiss"

In the sitcom All My Love, Yoon Doo Joon attempts to kiss Lizzy. She blocks it with a spoon, for certain to avoid the wrath of the jealous fangirls. Happy fans nicknamed the "kiss" (if you can call it that) the "Spoon Kiss." (Hmm, it sounds much more perverted than what it really is… or is my mind just in the gutter?)

Kang Ji Hwan and Yoon Eun Hye's "Cola Kiss"

All the Lie to Me fans have been raving about the on-screen and (off-screen) chemistry between Yoon Eun Hye and Kang Ji Hwan. When they kissed each other while completely soaked in coke, viewers sighed that they can never look at coke the same way again. This is the sticky and wet "Cola Kiss."

BODY PARTS

Some kisses are named based on the body part that gets kissed. Eyelid Kiss, Palm Kiss, Nose Kiss. What's next? Armpit Kiss? I predict it's coming soon…

Lee Seon Kyun and Gong Hyo Jin's "Eyelid Kiss"

When Lee Seon Kyun kissed Gong Hyo Jin's eyelid in Pasta, she couldn't keep herself from blushing. Fans and media raved about the "Eyelid Kiss."

Namgoong Min and Hwang Jung Eum's "Palm Kiss"

"Let me cover your mouth with my hand to check whether you're my long-lost stepbrother." Oops, nothing separating the two lips, but the palm of one hand. Namgoong Min and Hwang Jung Eum's "Palm Kiss" in Can You Hear My Heart.

Choi Daniel and Jang Nara's "Nose Kiss"

The petite Jang Nara tells the tall Choi Daniel to lower himself. And then what does she do? Proceed to kiss him on his nose! Guessed he lowered himself too much, and so instead of a "Lips Kiss," it became the Baby-Faced Beauty's "Nose Kiss."

CATCHPHRASES

Some kisses get their name from what the characters say right before the kiss.

Lee Min Ho and Son Ye Jin's "Game Over Kiss"

Lee Min Ho tells Son Ye Jin it's "game over" in Personal Taste, and they get lost in their own world… "Game Over Kiss."

Cha Seung Won and Gong Hyo Jin's "Recharge Kiss"

Heartbroken Cha Seung Won needs Gong Hyo Jin to recharge him in Best Love. "You mean bastard. Recharge," says Gong Hyo Jin. With tears in his eyes, Cha Seung Won sticks his head out of his car to kiss her in what becomes known as the "Recharge Kiss."

Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young's "Sofa Kiss"

MISCELLANEOUS

Jang Tae Hoon and Park Ha Min's "Straw Kiss"

I find this nickname the most interesting. Jang Tae Hoon and Park Ha Min's kiss in the cable drama Yacha earned the nickname "Straw Kiss" because viewers said it looked like he was sucking the daylight out of her lips. Upon reading this, I HAD to look up this kiss myself. And well, I was a tad bit disappointed. What do you think? Does it deserve its name "Straw Kiss"?
